Since 1945, when the Hoobler property at The Village of Redford Senior Living Community was acquired by the Detroit Presbytery for a price substantially below market value, each one of the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan communities has benefited from private gifts. In fact, many of our donors in the 21st century are carrying on a tradition of giving started by family members generations ago.
Whether earmarked for a specific purpose or for general support, private generosity continues to make the critical difference. It's the reason why we can offer essential services; bridge the gap between what government support covers and what care actually costs; continually improve our facilities; keep care affordable; provide opportunities for spiritual growth; and weather both economic downturns, as well as state and federal cutbacks.
We invite you to make a gift to our 2008 funding priorities:
Presbyterian Villages of Michigan envisions a future in which aging is not synonymous with ill health but rather a richer quality of life. To make this new vision of aging a reality, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan has embraced a philosophy that empowers people to achieve the highest possible quality of life. As such, we have built two Green Houses on The Village of Redford Senior Living Community campus. This project is the newest innovative concept for frail seniors who need 24-hour licensed skilled nursing care, but want a home-like setting. Each Green House offers ten private rooms with private baths, a large community room, and meals cooked right in the home. These Green Houses invert the priorities of a traditional institutional nursing home, in which the delivery of medical care or nursing is the primary determinant of architecture, activities, and atmosphere. The home part of nursing home is emphasized, and primacy is given to the elder's quality of life.
