Presbyterian Villages of Michigan is committed to serving seniors and communities. It’s our goal to be a first-line provider of resources, including information. Aging should be an adventure, not a scary trip!

In the PVM Blog, the experts at PVM will regularly publish articles and information. Topics may range from smart ways to age in place in your long-time home, to tips on how to shop for a senior community. We will have articles on transportation, wellness, nutrition, technology, activities, outlook-on-life, and more.

On Friday, June 21st twenty-two PVM senior living communities gathered at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi to vie for the coveted Village Victory Cup trophy. Throughout this fun-filled day of camaraderie and friendly competition, residents competed against one another in a variety of games that included the Wellness Walk, the Puzzler, the Kick-a-Roo, the Hoop Shoot, the Beanbag Toss, a Poetry Contest and of course the Balloon Volleyball tournament.

Have you had concerns about dementia either for yourself or a loved one? You are not alone. An estimated 190,000 Michiganders age 65 and older have Alzheimer’s or other dementias. That means that more than a half million family members in Michigan are caring for these loved ones.

Picnics, fireworks, and Independence Day are the hallmarks of July. So too are heat and humidity. In July, mid-day temperatures in Michigan average in the mid 80’s. Add to this an average humidity level of just over 72% and you have a potentially dangerous combination. Prolonged exposure to high heat and humidity can cause the body to lose its ability to cool itself, ultimately resulting in heat stroke, a serious medical condition that can cause permanent disability or death if prompt emergency treatment isn’t provided.

The U.S. Flag Day is coming up soon on June 14th. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14,1977 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14th as Flag Day. Congress joined in with an Act of Congress in 1946.

“Spring has Sprung! The Grass has Riz! Do You Know When the Village Victory Cup is?”

Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again. It’s time to get ready for the 14th Annual PVM Village Victory Cup. Like last year, we will be hosting this year’s event at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. The date is Friday, June 21, 2019.
